According to the data of the Agency, now half of the estimated natural gas resource base falls on non-conventional sources. In 2035, unconventional gas will account for one fifth of the total production of this commodity. - Golden era, however, the gas will require the adoption of gold standards in its production - said Dr Birol. In his opinion, a big responsibility in this matter rests with national regulators, who should persuade mining companies to adhere to high environmental standards.
He informed Deputy Prime Minister Pawlak, Poland is interested in cooperation with the Agency in the field of exploitation of unconventional gas. - This is a very good prospect for energy, not only Polish, but for the whole world - he stressed. According to some estimates, Poland may have up to 5 trillion cubic meters of shale gas. According to Dr Birol, the development of the gas from unconventional deposits in Poland can completely change the image of the energy market in Europe.
In the opinion of Deputy Prime Minister Pawlak, IEA expertise is particularly valuable include due to high energy prices on world markets. - $ 100. per barrel of oil is a condition to which we have to get used to in the near future - he said. - The most valuable are the indications of the Agency for increasing energy efficiency and implementation of modern, efficient energy technologies - Deputy Prime Minister added.
