Stoczek-OU1K is ORLEN's tenth drilling in exploration of unconventional hydrocarbon deposits. It is located at the Wodynie-Łuków license, lying on the border between the Lublin and Mazovia provinces.
The total length of the Stoczek-OU1K well and its horizontal section will be approximately 4,200 m. The horizontal part aims to survey the perspective gas shale layer at depths exceeding 3,100 m b.g.l. and will be 1,100m long. Work on the Stoczek-OU1K horizontal drilling is planned to last 30 days and will be finished in the first quarter of 2014.
So far PKN ORLEN has completed 9 exploratory wells for shale gas, including 2 horizontal ones in Syczyn and Berejów in the Lublin region. Parallel with drilling works in the Stoczek Łukowski Commune, preparations are being carried out to start another drilling in the Świdnik district (Lublin province). On the basis of the accepted work schedule, ORLEN is planning to conduct at least four exploratory wells in 2014.
