In order to benefit from its potential shale gas resources as much as possible, Polish decision-makers
will have to face a number of challenges:
If the forecasted size of shale gas resources in Poland turns out to be accurate, there will be vast op-

investors prospecting for gas.

Creating a transparent system of production
royalties.

Developing and modernising transmission
and transport infrastructure for gas.

Creating and supporting research and
development centres that deal with
unconventional gas production technologies.

Running information and educational
campaigns focusing on the features of
natural gas in unconventional deposits and
the technology of its production.

Economic and social development in the
regions where exploration work and, at
a later stage, production of shale gas will
be carried out.

Boost for local businesses, improved quality
of life.

Revenues for the budgets of local communes,
which will receive 60% of the licence fees and
production royalties. Additionally, the investors
will participate in local modernisation projects
(e.g. roads, sewerage systems, etc.).
