Exploration, assessment and production of gas
In the case of gas from unconventional reservoirs, the process of exploration, assessment and production
takes a very long time - even as much as 50 years. It consists of 4 stages.

The first stage encompasses studying archival geo-
logical data, analysing results from existing wells
and past surveys, and performing new seismic te-
sts, in which seismic waves are used to map the
layers of rock occurring underground.
Seismic tests are an entirely safe method, which
is commonly used in the oil and gas industry.
Their results make it possible to pinpoint the
right location for an exploration well.
Seismic test are performed by specialized com-
panies. In each and every case, before their com-
mencement, an appropriate agreement is reached
with the owner of the land where they are to be
carried out. Seismic tests have no impact on the
quality of ground waters or soil, and the vibrations
are not felt on the surface.
