6th Polish Congress of Oil and Gas Industry

Between 25 – 27 May 2011 in the Congress Hall of the I. Łukasiewicz Museum of the Oil and Gas Industry in Bóbrka, the 6th Polish Congress of Oil and Gas Industry took place.
 
The Congress was held under the patronage of: Waldemar Pawlak - Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy, Aleksander Grad - Minister of the State Treasury, and Henryk Jacek Jezierski - Under Secretary at the Ministry of the Environment, Chief National Geologist.
 
The Congress highlighted the 65th Anniversary of the Scientific and Technical Association of the Engineers and Technicians of the Oil and Gas Industry (SITPNiG). The organizer of the Congress was the Executive Board of the SITPNiG which focused this edition of the Polish Congress of Oil and Gas Industry on the main theme: „Unconventional hydrocarbon fuels and their impact on the economic development of the country”.
 
The representatives of the Ministry of Economy, Confederation of Polish Employers (KPP), Polish Chamber of Commerce (KIG), presidents and directors of plants and companies operating in the area of Polish oil and gas industry, representatives of regional authorities and persons whose day-to-day activities are related with the oil and gas business participated in the Congress. The subject matter of the Congress was prepared by the Program Board chaired by Professor Stanisław Rychlicki of the AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków.
 
As a tradition, before the session, the delegation of the Congress participants laid flowers on the grave of Ignacy Łukasiewicz at the cemetery in Zręcin, and then there was a holy mass celebrated at the Feast of the Cross Church of the Capuchin Order in Krosno. The participants were welcomed by the representatives of the Executive Board of the SITPNiG:  Michał Szubski, Chair of the Association, and Stanisław Szafran, Secretary General.

During the first session of the Congress, chaired by Professor Maria Ciechanowska, Director,  INiG, and Krystian Pater, Member of the Management Board for the Refinery Matters, PKN ORLEN, presentation was delivered by the President of ORLEN Upstream, Mr Wiesław Prugar. The subject of the lecture “Impact of the exploration of the shale gas in Poland on the international gas market” was definitely an interesting introduction to the panel discussion, which was held also on the first day, regarding the “Strategy of the supplies of the hydrocarbons for Poland”. The following persons were the moderators of the discussion: Professor Stanisław Rychlicki and Professor Jan Lubaś, and the following persons participated in the discussion: Czesław Bugaj (PKN ORLEN SA), Wojciech Górecki (Faculty of Geology, Geophysics and Environmental Protection, AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków), Janusz Honkowicz (GSG Sp z oo.), Tadeusz Kulczyk (PGNiG SA Zielona Góra Branch), Wieław Prugar (ORLEN Upstream Sp. z oo), Sylwia Sikora (Ministry of Economy) and Maciej Załubka (ZPNiG Kraków).
