About shale gas at the Gas Muzeum in Warsaw

On December 14th, 2010 at the Gas Museum in Warsaw's Wola district, the representatives from the Ministry of Economy met the companies engaged in searching for, identification and future excavation of unconventional deposits of natural gas in Poland. The meeting, inspired by the Department of Oil and Gas (DRO), was entitled "The gas sector - unconventional gas deposits".
 
 The meeting was chaired by Mr Maciej Kaliski from the Department of Oil and Gas at the Ministry of Economy. Speakers included: Prof. Andrzej W. Jasiński – Chairman of the National EIA Commission, Wiesław Prugar – President of ORLEN Upstream Sp.z o.o., and a member of the board at the Polish Exploration and Production Industry Organisation, Andrzej Sikora – President of the Energy Studies Instotute Sp. z o.o., as well as Piotr Janusz, Adam Szurlej and Sławomir Lizak – from the Department of Oil and Gas at the Ministry of Economy. The meeting was also attended by the representatives from the Ministry of Economy, Ministry of the Environment, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Treasury, the State Mining Authority in Katowice, AGH University of Science and Technology in Cracow, Polish Geological Institute as well as from over 25 companies engaged in exploration of Polish unconventional gas deposits, many of whom are associated in the Polish Exploration and Production Industry Organisation (OPPPW).
 
During the meeting, the speaker presented their remarks concerning the current situation of the natural gas market, as well as future perspectives in its development. The meeting served as yet another step towards expanding and explaining the issues of exploration and potential future excavation of unconventional gas deposits in Poland. A subsequent, third meeting has been scheduled at the break of 1st and 2nd quarter of 2011.
