“The contribution of the Independent Public Healthcare Establishment in Łęczna to helping persons injured in fires and accidents, who are referred here from all of Eastern and Central Poland, is invaluable. Your hospital is a well organised and professionally managed facility. We are pleased that we can provide financial support to an organisation that is so crucial to the entire healthcare system” — Wiesław Prugar, President of the Management Board of ORLEN Upstream, said during the meeting.

ORLEN Upstream has been present in the Lublin Region since 2007, when it acquired the first concessions for hydrocarbon exploration in the area from the Ministry of Environment. After analysing the available historical data, and after the new seismic surveys (2D) in 2011, the ORLEN Upstream team advanced into the drilling phase. Over 2 years, 8 drills were made in search of unconventional hydrocarbon deposits, including 6 vertical and two horizontal drills, and the first hydraulic fracturing treatment was conducted. Currently, the company is preparing for further drilling and the second fracturing treatment in the horizontal section of the Berejów-OU2K well, located in the Niedźwiada municipality.

In addition to the operational activities, the ORLEN Group is engaged in information, charity and sponsoring initiatives. Since 2011, it has organised more than 50 consultation meetings with local government authorities and residents of the areas where the company conducts its operations. In each of the municipalities where drilling takes place, it carried out educational, sports and charity projects. For example, as part of an annual program to support volunteer and professional fire-fighters, 38 fire-fighting units from the Lublin Region received financial support. The Independent Public Healthcare Establishment in Łęczna is the second institutional beneficiary in the Łęczna poviat to receive a donation from the ORLEN Group. In 2012, the “ORLEN – DAR SERCA” Foundation donated PLN 70,000 to the Multifunctional Foster Care Institution in Kijany.
