Future of Gas Energy Industry – a Debate of "Rzeczpospolita"
Gas units may be constructed faster and cheaper than coal units, however, the investors have to remember about threats such as highly unpredictable price of fuel, notably natural gas and potential high energy generation costs related with it. Such are the conclusions from the debate about the future of gas energy industry in Poland organised in the editorial office of “Rz". Not only the four largest companies, controlled by the State Treasury, have plans to construct units fuelled with gas but also foreign investors in Poland. Deputy Minister of State Treasury, Mikołaj Budzanowski, assured during the debate that projects related with gas power industry in Poland had full government support. “The government says three times “yes" to such investment projects because of the short completion time, low cost and reduction of CO2 emissions,” he enumerated. “Also, it is worth while to benefit from the possibility to obtain sources of financing cheaper from commercial ones: from European banks, EIB and EBRD, which often get involved in strategic energy projects.
